It seems that blogging, in general, starts out mostly being a selfish venture. You write and hope that others will like what they’re reading. Really, I guess, this blog is no different except that I’m hoping others will not only like what I write but they’ll also learn from it too.
I decided after I became a stay-at-home mom to a child with special needs that I needed an outlet to share my experiences with the people I cared about most (my family and close friends) and especially those who aren’t nearby. I needed it for my sanity as well as the sense of community writing creates when it’s shared. Then I realized that other parents (people I don’t actually know) may benefit from hearing about what it is we’re going through with Case. I realized I wanted to try to be a resource for others who may be struggling with the unchartered waters of special needs parenting (and parenting, in general!). Unfortunately, life gets in the way of our best intentions from time to time and I have to admit that was the case for me too. Twenty months after giving birth to Case, along came Claire (who will be one in October (2012)) and I’m just now feeling like I can focus a bit more on researching, and thinking, and writing and sharing, oh and doing all that with a side of humor (the ability to find humor in most situations is one of my most prized qualities (if I do say so myself)). So here’s to blogging, not just for me, but for your benefit too.
